![]() ![]() In their 2020 music video for their song “WAP,” Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion upend our cultural expectations by presenting self-objectification as a tool for attaining sexual power.Ĭardi and Megan objectify themselves throughout the video. I argue that, in opposition to much female objectification in rap music, Cardi and Megan objectify themselves as a means to an end––and that end is ultimately a feminist one that highlights their own power. Cardi and Megan similarly denigrate themselves, yet they use self-subjugation as a mode of sexual pleasure. Especially for Black women and especially in the world of rap music, women’s embodied power has been denied. Cardi and Megan further objectify themselves through visual images, as the singers appear in their video in what is essentially a museum of women’s bodies clearly made to be looked at for pleasure. The publicly available YouTube version of “WAP” censors the words “wet-ass pussy,” replacing them with “wet and gushy,” but the explicit and self-objectifying lyrics––too risqué even for YouTube––evoke sex positivity and celebration of women’s bodies and power. ![]() Premiering in August 2020, in the midst of that summer’s Black Lives Matter protests, the video highlights performances exclusively from other famous women of color, with the exception of white reality television star Kylie Jenner opening a door. ![]() Ie it only requires 2 Grade 2 chips stacked to reach 1 inch in height.Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s sexually-charged “WAP” (“Wet-Ass Pussy”), both its lyrics and accompanying music video, features two Black women performing in a colorful mansion flooded with water and filled with statues of ample buttocks, roaming wild animals, snakes, and an indoor pool. Therefore, the larger the chip, the smaller the ‘grade’. This is because it would require 5 individual chips, stacked on top of each other to reach 1 inch in height. Ie an SC10 product can also be called a Grade 5 chip. GC14-10 is a ‘graded chip’ that contains chip from 14mm down to 10mm.Ĭhips are commonly referred to by their old name convention the ‘grades’. Chip can also be graded, meaning that it has been screened to include all everything from the top size, to the bottom size. ‘SC10” means, it is a ‘screened chip’ that is all around 10mm in size. “Chip” (C) means that the rock has been crushed and has a high broken face content.Ĭhip can either be a single sized product, with the number in the name referring to this. Again the naming convention uses abbreviation followed by a number specifying the size. Meaning the rock is crushed and graded and consists of particles from 40mm to 0mm.Ĭhip is Primary used for sealing roads, asphalt, and drainage materials. Stabilised meaning clay or lime has been added.ĬTB – Cement Treated Basecourse, generally meaning that a base course has been processed through a pugmill and cement added to it.Ĭrushed All Passing 40mm. ![]() NB: Is a CAP that passes the requirements for NZTA to be used on state highways. GAP – General All Passing, another name for CAP, generally from hard rock quarries where everything is 100% crushed anyway, so specifying ‘crushed’ is not needed. Letters are added before the AP to give more information on the product. The Number at the ends refers to the screen size (the largest size of rock in the product). These products are “All Passing” (AP) meaning all material smaller than a particular size is included in the product. Basecourse/Topcourse is primarily used as a foundation material for roads and buildings. ![]()
